A short hop across the Channel.

Normandy is a beautiful region of France. It’s home to picturesque villages, rolling hills, and fine local produce.

But it was also at the centre of the largest and most determined military operation ever mounted – the Normandy beach landings on June 6th, 1944. Or, as it’s more commonly known, D-Day. This association with the past makes a school trip to Normandy particularly popular for groups studying history and World War II.

We’ll plan and book your educational tour in Normandy, making sure that every stop complements your classroom studies. There’s a huge range of museums and attractions to choose from, but our tour advisers have detailed, personal knowledge of the best options.

Why Choose Normandy For An Educational Tour?

Study The Second World War

While Normandy is an option for language or food-focused trips, the vast majority of schools come for the history.

There were five D-Day landing sites – Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword. You can visit museums along the beaches, where students will grasp the scale and significance of the operation. Further visits to cemeteries, memorials, and information centres will deepen their understanding of the fighting on the Western Front. It’s powerful, moving, and brings what they know about war from textbooks, games and films to life.

Practice Your French

If you’re in a big, busy city, it can be a little intimidating to try and speak French. Fortunately, Normandy is much more relaxed. Students have the chance to practice their language skills in a region where the pace of life is a little slower. There aren’t as many tourists and friendly locals encourage young pupils to give it a try!

This can be great for those studying French, giving them a much-needed confidence boost and unique opportunities to work on their reading, listening and speaking skills.
