The heart of Western civilisation.

Having organised school trips to Rome for over 35 years, we think that, pound-for-pound, the Eternal City is the best value-for-money destination in Europe.

Travel and accommodation options are plentiful, good-quality, and affordable. The food is top-notch, as you would expect in Italy. And the Mediterranean climate means you can visit all year round.

But it’s the never-ending range of attractions, experiences, and jaw-dropping history that make Rome truly special. It doesn’t matter whether you want to focus on art, history, geography, religious studies, or something else – there’s nowhere else quite like it.

With so many options on the table, if you’re not familiar with the city, it can be tough to know where to start. Fortunately, that’s where our travel advisers come in. Our role is to put together the perfect itinerary for your learning objectives, book everything, and support you from start to finish.

Why Choose Rome For An Educational Tour?

Ancient Rome

Your students will be familiar with the Romans from film, TV, books, and maybe even their favourite video games.

But, until they visit, they might not grasp how Ancient Rome, with its vast empire and political drama, still permeates through modern society. A history trip to Rome is more than just seeing the Colosseum, entering the Pantheon, or having a picture taken at Trevi Fountain. It’s putting these incredible sights into context. It’s having this context to lean on when it comes to their exams. And, to paraphrase the great Robin Williams, it’s knowing “what it smells like in the Sistine Chapel”.

Cultural Experience

We can’t talk about Rome’s history and not mention the art. The two go hand-in-hand. Your pupils don’t have to take GCSE art to appreciate Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings or Raphael’s frescoes. They instantly capture your attention.

Then there’s the city itself. Everywhere you go there are ornate fountains, grand squares, and centuries-old sculptures, with modern life swirling around it all – morning espressos, evening aperitivo, and vespas weaving through busy streets.

It’s a unique cultural experience for your students – inspiring them to see the world beyond their home.

Italian Practice

If you’re an Italian teacher, giving your pupils the opportunity to practice in a real-world setting (while taking in all the sights, of course) makes for a brilliant trip.

In our experience, students absolutely love it. It can be a small interaction, such as ordering a gelato, or, for the more daring, holding a conversation with a local. Why not encourage them to ask for directions or a recommendation for a coffee-shop?

It’s a real confidence-booster for when they’re back in the classroom.
