Food, fun, and natural wonders.

We love Italy for a school trip. It’s accessible, affordable, totally delicious, and packed with fantastic learning experiences.

Of course, Rome is the most famous and most popular destination in the country, but if you’re looking for something a little different, the Bay of Naples is ideal. For teachers after an educational tour focusing on geography or food technology, we highly recommend this part of Italy.

We’ll create the perfect itinerary for your group, covering both the city of Napoli and the stunning surroundings. We’ll make sure the itinerary supports your curriculum with enriching activities, but balances it with opportunities to explore, have fun, and develop some independence.

Why Choose Naples For An Educational Tour?

Explore Real-World Geography

The entire Bay of Naples is a living, breathing case study for your geography students.

The city, sitting on the Northern edge of the bay, is a classic example of urban expansion. It lies in direct view of Mount Vesuvius, which students can visit and peek inside the crater. They’ll learn why local communities continue to live at the base of an active volcano, and they’ll visit the remains of Pompeii and Herculaneum to see the devastation an eruption can cause.

Across the bay, the picturesque Sorrento acts as a luxurious gateway to the cliff-clinging villages of the Amalfi Coast. Over 5 million tourists descend on the area each year. This is a great opportunity to see the effects of tourism, both good and bad. And they can also study coastal erosion, sparking discussions on sustainability and responsible travel.

Get Hands-On With Food

Naples is, quite famously, the birthplace of pizza. The volcanic soil around Mount Vesuvius also provide the perfect growing conditions for some of the world’s finest produce. Vineyards and orchards line the hills, while the local tomatoes are highly sought-after.

It goes without saying you’ll enjoy some of the best food that Italy has to offer in Naples (which is no mean feat), but it’s actually even better for food technology groups. Students can try their hand at making authentic Neapolitan pizzas. At the same time, they’ll learn more about dough fermentation, cooking temperatures, and the importance of fresh, local ingredients.

Afterwards, they can watch gelato being made at one of the city’s most famous gelaterias.

    Frequently Asked Questions

The cost of a school trip to Naples depends on the number of nights you stay and your chosen activities. This includes flights. For an exact price, please get in with our team.

The Bay of Naples is a major tourist spot. Naturally, it’s particularly busy throughout the summer season, which means higher prices for flights, accommodation and activities. Bearing in mind the extremely hot conditions between July and August, we tend to advise school groups to choose a different time of year. The shoulder seasons are still beautifully warm, but much less busy, for example.

You will fly to Napoli from the UK. Once you arrive, you will have private transport by coach to Sorrento in the Bay of Naples. Your coach will stay with your for the duration of your trip. Many of the region’s main attractions, including Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii, sit between the city of Napoli and the Sorrento Peninsula – having a coach on hand makes them easy to visit.
