One Town – two great areas
The Geilo ski area operates as a highly coordinated single resort system (SkiGeilo) spread across two sides of a central valley. Because the entire valley is connected by a free ski bus system, school groups can seamlessly base themselves around the town and divide their time between the two major child-friendly hubs – Vestilia & Slaatta.
Geilo Town is exceptionally safe and provides an authentic, cozy mountain community feel. Groups will ski in both areas to enjoy all the area has to offer.

The Ski Areas
The Vestlia and Slaatta ski areas in SkiGeilo are highly regarded as some of Europe’s best learning environments for children. Facing each other across the valley, these two bases offer unique, completely unintimidating terrain layouts specifically engineered for progression, safety, and group management. Groups will ski for 3 days in Vestilia and 2 days in Slaatta to take full advantage of this fabulous area.
Vestlia
The Vestlia ski base is on the south side of the valley and hosts the Trollklubben children’s area, a massive, safe progression zone equipped with easy-to-use magic carpets and completely flat learning fields entirely separated from advanced skier traffic. Once school groups master the basics, they can ride fast, modern chairlifts to the peak of Bjødnahovda or Kikut, accessing long, highly predictable & confidence building, tree-lined green and blue runs that flow directly back to the main base area. This compact “funneling” layout makes for easy navigation around the slopes.
Slaatta
Situated on the north side of the valley, Slaatta is a vibrant, sunny base designed around exceptionally spacious slopes that give children plenty of room to practice and develop. There is a dedicated kids’ zone features interactive element trails, ski-cross paths, self-timers, and a wave track. For faster learners, the SlaattaParken offers mini-terrain waves and small plastic tube rails designed by X-Games champions to introduce freestyle skiing safely without steep risk curves. As skills develop, students can naturally transition via gentle connecting trails over to the neighbouring Geiloheisen slopes without feeling thrown onto intimidating terrain.
