A once-in-a-lifetime ski trip.

If you’re looking for a truly unique experience that your students will always remember, then a school ski trip to the USA ticks all the boxes.

Your students may have already visited the ski resorts of Austria, France, or Switzerland – perhaps on a previous school trip or a family holiday. But the likelihood is that few, if any, will have visited the USA before.

The skiing is worth it, too. The resorts are home to a variety of snow sure slopes, offering groomed, wide runs for beginners to advanced skiers and technical runs for the more adventurous – there’s something for everyone.

Why Choose the USA For Skiing?

Snow Volume & Quality

Europe tends to have the edge over the USA when it comes to the size of its ski areas.

However, due to latitude and the weather systems of North America, the US enjoys much larger volumes of snowfall throughout the season, which can last until summer in certain areas. If you’re planning a trip for your school’s Easter holidays, then you can be certain of snow coverage.

Plus, the snow of the US and Canada is world-renowned for being a deep, fluffy, dry powder. Carving through a fresh supply of dry powder is an incredible experience – one that you, and your students, will remember for years to come.

Stopovers

The USA is a long-haul destination for schools in the UK, so why not stopover in one of the country’s many incredible cities for a couple of days?

It’s possible to tack a tour of New York or Boston onto the beginning or end of your ski trip – giving students the chance to explore the Big Apple or home of the Red Sox. We can plan a selection of visits to see the sights, and even support your curriculums back in the classroom.

Safe, Quiet Pistes

In the US, the resorts do an excellent job of patrolling the entire ski domain – ensuring that every part is safe and fit for use, even the sections that would be considered off-piste in Europe.

This improves safety, and it also opens up the entire ski area – spreading skiers across the mountain.

That, combined with the size and number of resorts, results in quieter slopes that are easy to get around via modern lift systems.

There’s no denying it, skiing in the US is more expensive than Europe, with higher prices for lift passes, accommodation, food, and rental gear. Plus, you’ll need to fly, which adds to the expense. All in all, you can expect the average cost of a school ski trip to the USA to be around £2,000 per person.

A ski trip to the USA is more expensive and further away, so we recommend booking your trip much further in advance than you normally would. We suggest around 18 months ahead of time, as this gives plenty of time to promote the trip and for parents to pay.
