Montafon Valley is situated in western Austria close to the Switzerland border. Offering over 200km of well-prepared slopes and good deep snow skiing, this resort has something to suit everyone in your group. Snow conditions in the Montafon valley are generally very good and the resort features over 40% snow cannon coverage.

Montafon has a modern lift system comprising of over 60 lifts making the slopes very easily accessible. All the resorts in Montafon are covered by a single lift pass so you can ski your way through 11 resorts within this one region. The biggest lift and piste network in the valley is the Silvretta Nova which has the two main resorts of Gaschurn (1000m) and St Gallenkirch (900m).

There are many gentle runs for beginners and intermediate skiers are well catered for too. 14% of the area is covered by black runs and there is challenging off-piste for the more advanced skiers in your group. The resort caters to all ski abilities and is very welcoming and traditional. The ski schools are friendly and you will be amazed just how quickly your group will learn as they build in their confidence and skills.

The Montafon ski season officially runs from early December until late April. The Montafon ski region has a good snow record making it reliable for weather conditions. With snow making machines that now cover more than 40% of marked pistes also help to extend the season.

The region prides itself on over 200km of marked pistes and has a great reputation of catering best for beginners and intermediate skiers. 50% of the runs are blue and 36% of runs are red which gives plenty of choice to beginners. Gentle, beginner friendly, well-groomed slopes are available in all four of the region’s main ski areas. Opportunities for advanced skiers include deep snow skiing, off-piste and challenging routes like the Madrisa round tour and expert terrain can be found above Herzee in the Hochjoch area in the middle of the Valley. There are ‘Black Scorpion’ runs if you fancy testing your skills and ability.

The valley also hosts the world’s longest ski tunnel – the Hochjoch ski tunnel. At an impressive 476km long it is one of the region’s most famous highlights and one definitely not to be missed. Montafon ski region is made up of the four main ski areas – Silvretta Nova, Gargellen, Hochjoch and Golm – offering great skiing for all.
